Camping Gear | Hiking Pants

November 9th, 2008 | Rod | Camping

The next time you go on a camping expedition make sure that you have all the necessary camping gear and equipment with you if you want to get the most out of the outdoors. You will be going to places that may not have adequate facilities and thus must have on hand items that will come in handy when you travel in the back country, or somewhere far removed from civilization. After all, the whole point of going camping is to enjoy what nature has to offer and what better way to enjoy it than to camp in the midst of unspoilt nature. Camping gear and equipment are freely available and you will need to think about essential items first before you add on extras. Tents, accessories like a sleeping bag and a lantern are obviously items that you can ill afford not to have. You will also naturally need to have food and water, and if you happen to be going to cold places, then items of winter gear will have to be added to the camping gear and equipment that you take along.

A good pair of pants for hiking will have pockets that will make life on a trail more comfortable. Far away from the local shopping center, a hiker will not be able to quickly get needed supplies. A good pair of pants will have the pockets to carry some of the necessities such as bandages and antiseptics. These pockets are also good for an extra bottle of water or a cell phone. Some of these pants will have some protection from the sun while other models will provide some protection from the cold. There are pants that are easily convertible from long pants to short pants with the help of well placed zippers. These features can be quite helpful as the weather does change quickly on some trails.

Hunting And Camping Gear | Camping Food

November 9th, 2008 | Rod | Camping

One piece of hunting and camping gear that no one should ever be without is a first aid kit. A first aid kit is your only line of protection if there’s a mishap while out in the wilderness, and can help prevent a disaster from getting any worse, allowing you to treat injuries and ailments until you can get the person afflicted out to where they can receive medical attention. It also ensures that minor injuries don’t become larger problems that detract from your trip. A good first aid kit should contain at least bandages, medicine such as aspirin, and some disinfectant; a great first aid kit will have even more.

Just because you’re outdoors and around nature doesn’t mean your choice of camping food need not be primitive in detail. Because of the limitations in your coolers or backpacks or even travel trailer how you prepare your foods may be limited. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t have a variety of good food on hand to fight the hungries that come along with outside adventure. If you’re not camping during cold weather a rule of thumb is to bring along any kinds of food that doesn’t have to be refrigerated. As you don’t have to worry about them going bad and so forth as they are considered to be perishables.

November 7th, 2008 | Rod | Camping

When you’re Yosemite camping, keep in mind that there will be numerous different species of wildlife that you’ll be sharing the park with. It’s important to remember this, as you’ll want to keep all of your food closed up and out of reach of the wildlife. In fact, many campers choose to hang their food from trees while they’re sleeping to keep the bears away from the food. Another thing to remember is that the park is huge and full of special hiking trails and look out points. Make sure you pick up after yourself when it comes to garbage and belongings, as these things will do nothing but harm the park and its wildlife. During your Yosemite camping trip, you will want to take pictures of everything you see. Make sure you aren’t using flash directly into wildlife eyes to keep yourself safe. The last thing you’ll want is to make an animal feel like they’re in danger, as that will put you in danger as well.
