Kid Camping Gear | Camping Showers

Camping is a great time for families to connect and children to learn about the world around them. Educating the child on what equipment is needed for a kid’s camping gear, can help them feel responsible and eager to explore. If a kid’s camping gear includes some fun extras like binoculars and a small note book, it will open up an opportunity to record what they see both near and far. Later the whole family could compare what they saw with one another, and discuss which animals live in which places and why for example. Another fun addition to a child’s camping gear is a plant identification book. Learning about plants is fun and important for children. They should know if they are inspecting a lady bird on the leaf of a milk weed plant or poison ivy; likewise if they are eating raspberries or something harmful from a berry bush in a forest.
With just a few materials, you can make your own camping shower that works great and is easy to bring along with you on your camping trip. It’s a great way to get friends or family members to camp with you when they normally wouldn’t, and the materials can be so little that you can even dispose of the camping shower when you’re finished using it. An option for making your own camping shower is to simply get a tarp to work with. Getting some easy to bend wire and making a large circle with it, connect one end of the tarp around the circle to make a shower curtain. Once that’s done, use a tall plastic tubing to hold it standing up in the air so you’d be able to stand inside of the tarp while it hangs all around you. To get the water flowing, use a part of a hose, cut to fit the length of the shower curtain from top to ground. Using a bucket full of water, put one end of the hose in the bucket, with the other end connected to the top of the shower but leaving some of it to hang towards the ground inside the shower curtain. Simply give the hose a quick suck, and the water should be flowing! Now you have yourself a homemade camping shower that can be used over and over again, or you can come up with a simple model that is easily thrown away after use on a camping trip.
